These are the web-pages of Aquarium Porec, under construction.

At the same time, under construction is an aquarium in Porec, a touristic center on the west coast of Istria. While you are reading this, a group of experts is working hard on setting up the aquarium intended for visitors, i.e. a public aquarium.

This aquarium contains 25 pools (aquariums) of different sizes, in which, apart from the fish you’ll be able to see other flora and fauna of the Adriatic Sea. Building and furnishing of the aquarium will be of high quality thus ensuring that each pool (aquarium) will be educative and attractive, showing many varieties of habitats in the beautiful Adriatic Sea.

Each individual pool (aquarium) is an independent unit, with its own system for cleaning and maintaining of the healthy habitat for the animals and plants in the pool (aquarium).

The aquarium system is of Dutch style type on the basis of biological wet-dry filter, in other words the system for cleaning the water is based on a technological system which is made up of a mechanical and biological filters and chemical with active carbon, protein skimmer and nitrate-reductor. The whole system is connected and functions with the aid of many powerful pumps. Each pool (aquarium) even has its own capillary system for maintaining the water temperature on an acceptable level. There are one or more pumps (power head) in each pool for water circulation. Equipment used in the aquarium is Aqua medic, a world known maker of equipment for aquariums, from Germany. The pools (aquariums) will be lighten-up with powerful metal-halide lamps of 150 W and 250 W, spektra 13.000 K.

Beside the pools (aquariums), the aquarium will also contain a little bar, a souvenir shop, sanitations for visitors and a technical area needed for effective functioning of the aquarium.
